Alexandra Nigito

Alexandra Nigito is a graduate in organ (Bologna, Basel) and harpsichord (Venice); after initial studies in the Scuola Civica di Musica in Milan she later attended the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She is currently completing a Masters in Choral Direction at the Musik Akademie Basel. Her practical studies have progressed alongside theoretical studies, and she graduated in musicology in Cremona and earned a doctorate in Zurich.

She has been the winner of scholarships awarded by the Swiss National Fund for her doctorate and post-doc, and is a member of the Istituto Svizzero di Roma. She has performed several concerts as a soloist and in ensembles, and is also an organist, a choir director as well as dedicating herself to musicological research. She is the founder of the baroque orchestra Capella Tiberina and has recorded for Swiss Radio DRS2, Tactus, Arcophone and Brilliant Classics.
