This research aims to investigate the contribution of women to the formation of the Lante della Rovere archive, preserved in the State Archives of Rome. Following an initial cataloguing of the documentary corpus, we shall proceed with the identification of those records which shed light on the crucial role often played by women in the formation of the family archives. The project arose from the necessity to investigate the sedimentary process of the Lante della Rovere archive, an extraordinary source for the study of Roman and international history between the 16th and 19th century, containing the documentary nuclei of illustrious families such as Vaini, Orsini-Tremoille, Serbelloni and Ceuli.
